On Tuesday morning, August 14, at approximately 1:45, an officer with the Plymouth Police conducted a traffic stop for a moving violation on Lincolnway East near Kingston Road. The driver was identified as 44-year-old Erick Gamma-Barrios from Broadway Street in Plymouth. Officer Thornton discovered that Gama-Barrios was operating the vehicle without ever obtaining a license. He was taken into custody, transported to the Marshall County Jail, and booked in for operator never Licensed with a prior at 2:30 a.m. and released on a cash bond at 2:50 a.m.

Thursday morning, August 15th at approximately 1:35, Officer Fase with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 30 near the intersection with Oak Drive after observing a vehicle that was doing 70 miles per hour in a posted 50 mph zone. During the officer’s investigation, he found that the driver, Pedro Mendoza Benavidez, 34, of Texas was driving without a license. He was booked into the County Jail for a charge of operator never licensed at 2:25 a.m. and released on a cash bond at 3:05 a.m.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
