Students look to their future at recent college and career fair

The presenters varied from military and workforce personnel as well as representatives from local colleges.

“What do you enjoy the most about your job” is just one of the many questions posed by NCP students who attended a College and Career Fair held in the high school gym on October 3.

There were over 45 presenters who attended from various agencies that fall within the “Enroll, Enlist, Employ” philosophy of the HS guidance department.

The presenters varied from military and workforce personnel as well as representatives from local colleges.

Presenters from the workforce talked to students about the opportunities that they have once they graduate from high school. While some career paths require college degrees, there are many work areas in which students can work and go to school at the same time.

Local businesses discussed their career options and what is needed to be employed in their field. The businesses varied from financial, health careers, law enforcement, agricultural, manufacturing, and law.

Students were also able to visit with members of various branches of the military to learn what is involved to enlist into the armed forces. Military groups represented included ROTC, Indiana Army National Guard, Air National Guard, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marines.

Colleges represented included Indiana State University, St. Mary’s-of-the-Woods, Purdue, Indiana University, IU Indianapolis, Danville Area Community College, University of Indianapolis, and Ivy Tech. These representatives explained to students about their programs and the requirements needed to enroll.

The career and college fair was organized by the school counselors in hopes of providing students with information on how they can Enroll, Enlist or Employ following their high school graduation.
