State deploys emergency aid resources as Hoosiers recover from severe storms and flooding

Recent severe storms and flooding have impacted communities across Indiana, and the state has deployed several emergency aid resources to help Hoosiers and communities recover. State Representative Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) said his office is monitoring the situation locally and across the state, and will continue sharing resources as they become available.

Jordan provided info on some important resources to help Hoosiers affected by the storms.

Eligible Hoosiers may qualify for up to $5,000 in emergency aid to help with basic needs such as food and clothing. Call 2-1-1 to learn more or apply online.

Representative Jordan encourages anyone affected by the storms to call 2-1-1 or 866-211-9966 to report damage and connect with available resources. Reporting to 2-1-1 will help the state assess the extent of damage and develop next steps in the recovery process.

If you have been displaced from your home, emergency hotel vouchers and disaster rental assistance may be available through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. Call 2-1-1 or 1-800-RED-CROSS for assistance.

Hoosiers who lost food due to the storms or power outages may qualify for SNAP benefit replacements. Submit an affidavit within 10 days of the event through the FSSA Benefits portal, by fax at 888-436-9199, or at a Division of Family Resources office.

For shelter, emergency assistance, and disaster recovery resources, call the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit redcross.org. Hoosiers can find American Red Cross shelters in impacted areas online.

Get help with insurance questions or storm-related claims by calling the Indiana Department of Insurance at 317-232-2395. If you encounter a storm-related scam, contact the Indiana Attorney General's Office at indianaconsumer.com or 1-800-382-5516.
