A new splash pad is coming to Pike Memorial Park, and the community will have an opportunity to help bring the project to life.
The Fulton County Community Foundation (FCCF), in partnership with the Town of Akron, is excited to announce a matching grant opportunity to support the development of a new splash pad at Pike Memorial Park. The Akron Community and Missions Fund at FCCF has committed to match community contributions to the project, up to $39,216.95.
The splash pad will provide a fun, accessible and family-friendly recreational opportunity for children and families during the summer months. Funding is also in place for the splash pad's water expenses, allowing the amenity to operate without an increase in local taxes to cover those costs. As a free alternative to other aquatic recreation, it will give local families another way to enjoy the park while encouraging outdoor activity and community connection.
The project is part of a larger effort to enhance recreational opportunities at Pike Memorial Park and create a more vibrant, multigenerational destination for Akron residents and visitors.
“We are incredibly excited about the progress being made toward bringing a splash pad to our community,” says Rebecca Hartzler, Akron Town Clerk. “Now, we are asking our community to help us raise the final dollars to make this project a reality. We are especially grateful to the Akron Community and Missions Fund at the Fulton County Community Foundation (FCCF) for generously committing to match donations dollar for dollar as we work toward our goal. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and invest in something that families and children will enjoy for generations to come. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer!”
Community members are invited to be part of bringing the splash pad to Pike Memorial Park. Contributions to the project will be matched dollar for dollar by the Akron Community and Missions Fund, up to $39,216.95, doubling the impact of the community's support.
Those interested in supporting the Pike Memorial Park splash pad can make donations by visiting Akron Town Hall or by mailing contributions to 206 W. Rochester Street, Akron, IN 46910. Checks should be payable to the Town of Akron, with "Splash Pad" in the memo line. Gifts will be matched until the $39,216.95 commitment from the Akron Community and Missions Fund has been fully utilized.
