William Grimes will spend the rest of his natural life in prison.
In May, a Sullivan County jury convicted him for the 2012 murder of rural farmer Lowell Badger. Last Friday, Grimes was sentenced to 120 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
He was given 70 years for the killing of Badger and an additional 50 years for conspiracy to commit the slaying. The sentences handed down by the presiding judge in the case were the maximum allowed due to the heinous nature of the crime.
Grimes did make a statement after sentencing in which he maintained his innocence and denied being involved with the killing. He also indicated that he would appeal the verdict.
