Runnebohm Construction Company, Inc., a leading design-build general contractor based in Shelbyville, today announced an important milestone in its evolution.
Chris King has assumed full ownership of the company, acquiring the interests of founder Nick Runnebohm and long-time majority shareholder Mike Runnebohm. This transition honors the Runnebohm family’s remarkable legacy while positioning the company for renewed growth, operational excellence, and an even stronger commitment to serving clients and the community.
“I am deeply grateful to Nick and Mike for the foundation they built over the last 57 years — We are a company rooted in integrity, safety, craftsmanship, and loyalty,” said Chris King, Owner and President.

“We will carry the Runnebohm name and values forward. Our future is about building on that legacy — investing in our people, raising the bar on execution, and delivering exceptional results for our clients and community.”
King emphasized that the core strength of Runnebohm Construction has always been its people — highly skilled construction professionals, including many multi-generational builders whose dedication has shaped the company for decades.
“Our employees are unquestionably our greatest asset,” King continued. “We will invest aggressively in them - in talent, training, and leadership development. Our direction is clear: deliver unmatched value for our customers by building the next generation of skilled tradespeople. We will be intensely focused on attracting the best and brightest to join our mission.”
As part of this transition, Kris Lasure has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. With extensive project management and leadership experience, Lasure will oversee daily operations and advance initiatives that enhance performance, client satisfaction, and long- term growth.
“I am honored to help lead this exciting next chapter,” said Lasure. “Our commitment will be unwavering — deliver exceptional results for our customers, support and grow our people, and embrace innovation that will keep us at the forefront of our industry. This is a defining moment for our team and our future.”
Runnebohm Construction will continue its strong tradition of community engagement and investment in the places where we live and work. The company remains committed to supporting local organizations, educational programs, and partnerships that strengthen the long-term well-being and prosperity of the communities it serves.
“Nick, Judy, Mike, and Marcy instilled in all of us a deep commitment to support the communities in which we work,” King said. “That legacy of giving back — of being involved and invested — is part of who we are. People will be able to count on the Runnebohm name for decades to come, not only for excellence in construction, but for leadership in our communities.”
