All information collected led officials to conclude that there was not any validity to rumors and that there were no plans of anyone wanting to commit acts of violence at the school.
The Winamac Police Department and Winamac Community High School administration jointly investigated a rumor being spread at WCHS about a potential shooting allegedly planned for Friday during a school assembly.
Administration of the Eastern Pulaski School Corporation assured parents in an email sent Thursday that an extensive amount of time had been spent to get to the bottom of the stories circulating at the school. All information that was collected led officials to conclude that there was not any validity to the rumors and that there were no plans of anyone wanting to commit acts of violence at the school.
The rumors were found to have been based around a student who brought a wood working tool to the school that was incorrectly identified as a weapon. Officials stated in the email that the rumors circulated at the school were a combination of stories that had gotten out of hand.
Parents were reminded that school resource officer Lieutenant Ryan Austin is at Eastern Pulaski Community School buildings each day and that the safety and security of students were top priority. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department was also updated on the situation.
