Representative Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) highlighted Indiana's strong economic performance and rising population in a recent release, pointing to low taxes, responsible fiscal policies, and a robust workforce as key drivers of the state's success — while signaling that affordability will remain the top priority for House Republicans heading into the 2027 legislative session.
"Our state is leading the Midwest in both economic and population growth, expanding opportunities for Hoosiers," Jordan said. "Under Republican leadership, our state has focused on maintaining a low-tax, affordable environment, supporting responsible fiscal policies that protect taxpayers, and building a strong workforce."
Jordan pointed to recent economic indicators as evidence of the state's momentum. Indiana's unemployment rate stood at 3.3% in August, below the national rate of 4.1%, and registered apprenticeship participation is the highest in the country, according to the release.
From keeping taxes low to connecting Hoosiers with career opportunities, Indiana is working hard to build a thriving economy where families can succeed, Jordan said. The state's cities, towns, and rural communities continue to grow and consistently rank nationally in best housing markets and places to live.
Despite the positive trends, Jordan acknowledged that challenges remain. "There is still work to do to keep Indiana moving forward and support working families," he said. "Affordability has been the main focus of House Republicans and will continue to be as we head into the 2027 legislative session."
Jordan, who represents the Bremen area, said Indiana is a state built on hard work, opportunity, and Hoosier ingenuity — values he said will continue to guide the legislature's approach as lawmakers prepare for the upcoming session.
