A Plymouth woman was taken into custody Monday evening following an alleged road-rage incident involving a Jeep and a bicycle on the city's near-west side.
Plymouth Police were dispatched to the area of Oak Drive and Harrison Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday, October 12, after receiving reports of the incident. Officers responded quickly and located all parties involved.
During the investigation, officers obtained video footage and witness statements that shed light on what occurred.
The driver of the Jeep was identified as 58-year-old Diana Patrick of Plymouth. The investigation led officers to believe that Patrick and a male bicyclist engaged in a verbal argument that escalated and moved into the front yard of a home on West Harrison Street. It was outside that home where Patrick allegedly attempted to hit the bicyclist — who was riding through a stranger's yard — by driving her Jeep into the yard after him.
Patrick was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a felony charge of attempted battery with a deadly weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
