Plymouth Police report two arrests in separate incidents on Monday

The Plymouth Police Department reported two separate arrests on Monday, March 30th, involving an active theft warrant and a repeat traffic offender.

In the first incident, which occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m., Corporal McIntyre located 20-year-old Christian McGowan in the 600 block of South Plum Street. McGowan was wanted on an active warrant for a Class A misdemeanor theft charge.

Upon taking him into custody, officers conducted a search of his person and discovered drug paraphernalia. McGowan was subsequently transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on charges of theft and possession of paraphernalia.

Later that afternoon, at 3:23 p.m., Officer Fisher conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Randolph and Baker Streets. The stop was initiated after an off-duty Plymouth officer recognized the driver as someone who had previously been cited for driving without a valid license.

The driver was identified as 49-year-old Francisca Matute of West Garro Street in Plymouth. According to police records, Matute had just been arrested for the same offense two weeks prior, on March 16th.

Following the traffic stop, Matute was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where she was booked for driving without a license. A Probable Cause Affidavit was filed in her case, and a judge has set her bond at $5,000.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
