Plymouth Police arrest three in separate weekend incidents

The Plymouth Police Department reported a busy start to the weekend, taking three individuals into custody in separate incidents involving outstanding warrants, traffic violations, and suspected intoxicated driving.

The series of arrests began on Friday, March 20th, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Plymouth Police Officer Wallace responded to a residence on Fairbanks Avenue to serve an active arrest warrant. The suspect, 41-year-old Cody Carson Brown, was wanted on charges of theft and resisting law enforcement. Police say Brown was taken into custody without incident and subsequently booked into the Marshall County Jail.

The following morning, Saturday, March 21st, at 11:45 a.m., Patrolman Thornton initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle fail to stop at a red light at the intersection of Michigan and Monroe Streets. While speaking with the driver, identified as 24-year-old Jose Omar Zuminga Ruiz of Bremen, the officer discovered that Zuminga Ruiz had never been issued a driver's license. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on a charge of operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license.

Later that same afternoon, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Officer Thornton was dispatched to the 821 Car Wash following a report of a man who had fallen asleep in the driver's seat of a running vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the driver, 65-year-old Patric Todd Schaetzle Riewoldt. After conducting field sobriety tests at the scene, Riewoldt was taken into custody. He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
