Plymouth Park Superintendent Mike Hite updated members of the park board Monday evening during their monthly meeting.
Hite said the pickle ball courts at the Hunter Tennis Complex in Centennial Park have the pavement down and the pre-finish was installed. They are now in a 30-day holding pattern while the material is cured. The contractor will be installing the new fencing and there is a small amount of concrete work that needs to be completed. Hite said, “After 30 days the contractor will come in and put down an acrylic finish and line the six courts and then citizens can begin to pickleball.” Hite didn’t give an estimate of when the project will be opened because the work is weather dependent.
Plymouth City Attorney Jeff Houin didn’t have anything official to report to the park board bud did say, “From personal experience, the repair of the approaches to the bridges on the Greenway Trail are very nice.”
The city park board approved the annual request of the Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County to bring kids to the community pool twice a week from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. during the summer months. They will pay a flat rate of $300 for the summer. It was noted that the kids in the club would like to do a beautification project in the park to earn service hours.
The park board approved the request of the P-town Cruz’n Car Show to have free use of River Park Square and the VFW Shelter for their event on Saturday, June 8th from 8 a.m. till noon. The car show is a fundraiser for the Marshall County Humane Society. The P-town Cruz’n Car Show will provide port-a-pots and take care of their own trash and clean-up at the end of the show.
The Plymouth Park Board also approved the request of Delta Theta Tau for a donation to their Loteria (Mexican) Bingo night on Saturday, May 11th. The board approved the donation of a family pool pass.
