A Plymouth Police officer observed a black motorcycle traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 at a high rate of speed and making aggressive lane changes, leading to the arrest of 24-year-old Skyler Cutter of Plymouth.
Officer Fisher was traveling westbound on U.S. 30, just west of the railroad tracks, when he spotted the motorcycle heading in the opposite direction at an alarmingly high speed. The officer activated his emergency lights and siren, and the motorcycle came to a stop just east of the railroad tracks, west of Oak Drive.
Cutter was arrested at 7:05 PM on Tuesday, October 13, for reckless driving on U.S. 30 at Oak Drive. The posted speed limit in the construction zone where he was observed was 45 mph — meaning the motorcyclist was traveling nearly three times the legal limit.
Cutter was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked for reckless driving.
The Plymouth Police Department reminds motorists to obey posted speed limits, especially in construction zones, and to drive safely. Construction zones carry reduced speed limits for a reason — to protect both drivers and the workers who labor just feet from passing traffic.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
