Plymouth man arrested on OWI charges after Culver disturbance

A Plymouth man was arrested early New Year's Eve morning on multiple charges, including operating while intoxicated, following a disturbance call in Culver.

The Marshall County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call at approximately 3:35 a.m. on December 31st from a female resident at 511 Cavalier Drive in Culver. The caller reported that a male subject, later identified as Layne J. Manns, 29, of Plymouth, was intoxicated and refusing to leave her residence.

The caller informed dispatchers that Manns had left the scene in a vehicle, possibly heading toward the Plymouth area.

A short time later, Officer Ayala with the Plymouth Police Department located the vehicle and Manns at his residence on Webster Avenue in Plymouth.

Officer Ayala initiated a DUI investigation. After obtaining a search warrant signed by Judge Matthew Sarber of Marshall County Superior Court III, authorities determined that Manns was operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit of .08%.

Manns was transported to Marshall County Jail, where he was booked in for: operating while intoxicated with a BAC of .15% or higher, operating while intoxicated, endangering a person, resisting law enforcement, and disorderly conduct.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
