This week, members of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety passed a resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement between the city and Marshall County for Building Inspector Services.
Marshall County and the City of Plymouth both have established their building departments with full-time employees. These employees handle the day-to-day building inspections in their areas. From time to time, the building inspectors take a vacation or are absent from work for more than two days.
This agreement is an interlocal cooperative agreement for services per the Indiana Code. Marshall County and Plymouth agree to provide temporary building inspection services for each other during the extended absences of one of the inspectors. The building inspectors will be compensated at their current departmental rate, and each will be compensated for travel expenses.
The agreement's effective date was March 1st and will be in force until terminated by either party. Termination requires a 10-day written notice.
The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety unanimously approved the agreement and City Attorney Jeff Houin said he had spoken with all three commissioners who were supportive of the agreement. The county is expected to approve the agreement at their March 18th meeting.
