First responders found two people trapped under the vehicle and a member of the Greensburg Police Department assisted a victim by applying a tourniquet.
Seven people were injured, two critically, when a car crashed into a downtown Greensburg restaurant Tuesday.
Just before 6:30 p.m., the Greensburg Police Department and emergency personnel responded to Carriage on the Square. A Honda passenger car, driven by former Indiana State Representative Cleo Duncan, 83, struck the restaurant.
The building was occupied at the time including people eating outside. First responders found two people trapped under the vehicle and a member of the Greensburg Police Department assisted a victim by applying a tourniquet.
All of the victims were extricated by the Greensburg Fire Department and transported for further medical attention. Seven patients received medical services including two that were taken to the Decatur County Memorial Hospital and were then airlifted to UC Hospital in Cincinnati. Two others were reported to be in stable condition at Decatur County Memorial. Three refused treatment.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, Decatur County EMS, Letts Community Fire Department, Indiana State Police, Decatur County EMA, Decatur County Health Department and Platinum Wrecker Service assisted at the scene. An ISP accident reconstruction team was called to aid the investigation.
Carriage on the Square will be closed at least through the end of the week.
