The railroad crossing on Lake Avenue/State Road 17 will be completely rehabilitated in the second quarter of 2025.
Two weeks ago, Plymouth City Councilman Don Ecker voiced his concern about the roughness of the railroad crossing and asked City Attorney Jeff Houin to contact the Patriot Rail Company to see if he could get them to address the issues.
Last Friday, Councilman Ecker received an email from the Director of Public Affairs for Patriot Rail Company. The email stated, “Our engineering department is in the process of receiving bids for a larger project that will include a full rehab of this crossing. That project is scheduled to be completed Q2 of next year. In the meantime, we have added cold patch and will continue to patch as best we can until the construction work is underway.”
The railroad's Director of Public Affairs said they appreciate the community’s patience while awaiting the full rebuild.
Drivers who routinely use the railroad crossing on Lake Avenue should notice the improvements.
