A Pendleton man is behind bars following his arrest Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Parke County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a residence on County Road 650 North in Waveland for a call about a male stealing items from an outbuilding. Upon arrival, deputies saw the suspect get in a vehicle and flee.
A short time later, deputies noticed the vehicle driving on State Road 47 ans pull into the Turkey Run Gas and Grill. Deputies approached the male suspect, and he fled north across SR 47 and into the wood line.
The suspect managed to make his way through Turkey Run State Park property and attempted to walk across Sugar Creek, falling through the ice. He was able to get back onto the creek bank.
Shortly after 2 p.m., deputies located the suspect, Kenneth R. Taylor 52 of Pendleton, and arrested him.
The vehicle he was driving, a black Audi, was found to be reported stolen, from the Cloverdale area. Several stolen items from different residences were located and recovered from the vehicle, including stolen firearms.
He was arrested for Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Auto Theft and Resisting Law Enforcement. Numerous other charges are likely, and he is being held with No Bond. Indiana Conservation Officers assisted at the scene.
