A woman was killed in a Hancock County two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.
Hancock County deputies were called to County Road 600 East and US 40 just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Hancock County Fatal Accident Crash Team was also called to the scene.
No names of the drivers involved have been released as of this report. An adult female was the driver of a 2017 Acura that was traveling north on 600 East and had a stop sign at US 40. According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s office, the Acura was driven into the path of a 2012 Ford F-350 driven by a juvenile male.
Both vehicles ended up in a field on the corner of the intersection.
The female driver of the Acura was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford was transported to IU Methodist with non-life threatening injuries and was reported to be in good condition on the way to the hospital.
Drugs and alcohol are not thought to be factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
Westbound US 40 was closed for about two hours.
Joining the sheriff’s office in assisting were police departments with Greenfield, Fortville, New Palestine, and Wilkinson. Fire departments with Greenfield Fire Territory, Charlottesville and Green Township also assisted with the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office and Hancock County Coroner.
