Oak Hill Cemetery Sexton, Mike Collins, has recommended establishing prices and regulations for the newly completed Cherrywood Addition to Oak Hill Cemetery.
Last week, the Plymouth Common Council heard an ordinance on first reading that amends the current cemetery fee and regulation ordinance. The Common Council must approve, by ordinance, all fees imposed by the City of Plymouth through its various departments for the myriad services it provides to individuals.
The price for individual grave spaces anywhere in the Cemetery, except Memorial Gardens Addition and Cherrywood Addition in New Oakhill Cemetery, remains $500. A grave space in Memorial Gardens Addition in New Oakhill Cemetery is still $200, while a grave space in the new Cherrywood Addition in New Oakhill Cemetery will be $1,000.
Mausoleum pricing isn’t changing. A private mausoleum space in the Edgewood Addition in New Oakhill Cemetery is $6,000 for private mausoleums only; no burials permitted.
The cost of a niche in a columbarium that may contain up to two urns or other containers of cremated remains at $1,000.
The only other change in the ordinance pertains to vases and baskets within Cherrywood Addition in New Oakhill Cemetery; all vases, baskets, and other permitted decorations shall be placed only on the monument or foundation.
The new Cherrywood addition, located south of the mausoleums, will feature 180 grave spaces. The additional cost includes the foundation. When you purchase a grave space anywhere else in Oak Hill Cemetery, you order the foundation when you purchase your monument. In the new Cherrywood addition, the foundation will already be in place.
The Plymouth Common Council will consider the ordinance amendment on the second and third readings at the next meeting on Monday, July 14th.
