Two citizens from Niles, Michigan were arrested Thursday morning just after midnight by Officer Wozniak with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
The officer initiated the traffic stop on a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo on U.S. 30 in the near Iris Road. During his investigation, a probable cause search of the vehicle was completed, and the officer located suspected marijuana and methamphetamine.
The driver of the vehicle, 48-year-old Ryan A. Lusher, and his passenger 42-year-old Janet P. Adams, were both taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine. They were both transported to the Marshall County Jail. Ryan Lusher was given a cash bond of $500 and Janet Adams was given a cash bond of $1,500.
Officer Wozniak was assisted at the scene by Lyon's Wrecker Service.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
