In a sting-operation, Detectives with the Plymouth Police Department arrested a New Carlisle man selling stolen merchandise.
On Wednesday, November 6th at 3:15 in the afternoon officers with the Plymouth Police Department assisted detectives with the arrest of 40-year-old Eric Hancz who had stolen from Walmart.
Unbeknownst to Hancz, he had set up to sell the stolen item to city detectives and meet them in the Walmart Parking Lot. Plymouth officers located Hancz and took him into custody for theft, possession of stolen property, driving while suspended with a prior, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and on a warrant out of Elkhart County.
Eric Hancz was transported to Marshall County Jail, where he was booked in and held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
