On Tuesday, April 2nd, at approximately 11:40 at night, Officer Wozniak with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department initiated a traffic stop on a white 2008 Ford pickup truck in the parking lot of BP Gas Station in Argos.
During the investigation, Marshall County Canine Officer Truty with his canine partner "Bear" assisted in conducting a free-air sniff around the vehicle. The canine alerted to the presence of narcotics. A probable cause search of the vehicle was completed and the officers located suspected marijuana products and paraphernalia.
The driver, 28-year-old Grifin P. Masterson of Main Street in Monterey was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver's license. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on a $250 cash bond. His bond was paid at 1:30 Wednesday morning and Masterson was released on bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
