Metal Technologies, Inc. (MTI) announced that it has completed the acquisition of Rochester Metal Products, an iron foundry with a history dating back to 1937.
The Rochester facility will operate as Metal Technologies Rochester.
The acquisition adds approximately 350 skilled employees to the MTI team and expands the company’s manufacturing capabilities, domestic production capacity and customer base. Rochester brings extensive gray and ductile iron casting expertise, horizontal molding capabilities, engineering resources and longstanding customer relationships to MTI’s North American operations.
With the addition of Rochester, MTI employs more than 2,100 people and operates five foundries and two machining facilities across the United States and Mexico. The combined organization operates 19 molding lines—including 15 Disamatic vertical molding lines and four horizontal molding lines—more than 200 CNC machines, and approximately 410,000 tons of annual gray and ductile iron casting capacity. With the addition of Rochester, MTI further strengthens its position as the largest independent, family-owned iron foundry, machining and assembly group in North America.
“Rochester Metal Products has built an outstanding reputation for quality, technical expertise and customer service over nearly 90 years,” said Matthew J. Fetter, President and Chief Executive Officer of Metal Technologies. “We have long admired the Kersey family and the Rochester team for not only their competitive manufacturing capabilities, but also their values, integrity and commitment to long-term relationships. We thank the Rochester Metal Products Board for the confidence they have placed in MTI to build on that legacy and support Rochester’s long-term future. We also recognize the important legacy of Bob Kersey and the lasting impact he had on Rochester Metal Products and the business it is today. We are proud to welcome Rochester’s talented employees to the MTI family and believe our aligned cultures and combined capabilities create a strong foundation for continued growth.”

Rochester Metal Products operates an approximately 250,000-square-foot facility in Rochester, Indiana, producing gray and ductile iron castings for customers across a broad range of industries. Its horizontal and vertical molding capabilities, induction melting expertise and specialized production knowledge complement MTI’s existing operations.
“Rochester Metal Products has been built over generations by people who care deeply about this business, our customers and our community. In MTI, we found a family owned and operated organization that shares those values and understands the foundry business. We believe joining MTI gives Rochester the resources, capabilities and long-term commitment needed to build on what our employees have created and continue growing for years to come,” said John Haas, Chairman of the Board, Rochester Metal Products.
For Rochester employees, the combination provides access to the resources and opportunities of a larger organization while maintaining an important local manufacturing presence. For customers and suppliers, it provides additional capacity, flexibility, technical resources and greater security of supply. For the communities where MTI operates, the combination supports continued investment, local employment and partnerships with organizations making a difference.
Together, the organizations provide customers with expanded access to:
- Gray, ductile and austempered ductile iron casting capabilities;
- Additional domestic manufacturing capacity and production flexibility;
- Horizontal and vertical molding capabilities;
- Engineering, product development, quality and supply chain resources;
- CNC machining, finishing, coating, heat treating, subcomponents and assembly services; and
- A broader North American manufacturing network providing greater security of supply and supply-chain resilience.
The acquisition reflects MTI’s long-term commitment to the iron foundry industry and its continued investment in the manufacturing capabilities needed to support customers across North America. With Rochester now part of the MTI family, the combined organization has an even stronger foundation for continued investment, dependable customer support and responsible long-term growth.
MTI’s operations now include five iron foundries in Auburn and Rochester, Indiana; Three Rivers and Ravenna, Michigan; and San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The company also operates machining facilities in Hillsdale, Michigan, and San Luis Potosí, Mexico, supported by its Corporate Headquarters and Technical Center in Auburn, Indiana.
