McCormick’s Creek State Park was severely damaged by a tornado in Spring 2023.
The park’s Canyon Inn opened and offered an Easter buffet days later.
Many park trails remained closed, and the campground was closed into October. No new reservations for camping at McCormick’s Creek were accepted for arrival dates through the end of last year.
More trail openings are now scheduled for Friday.
Trail 1: .5 mile hike starting and ending in the Family Cabins that takes you through McCormick`s Cove Nature Preserve.
Trail 2: 1 mile moderate hike to see the Old Statehouse Quarry and takes you through McCormick`s Cove Nature Preserve
Trail 3: .8 mile hike in the Echo Canyon along McCormick`s Creek and ends with a scenic view of the Waterfall.
Trail 4: 1.4 moderate hike to the historical C.C.C. Fire Tower.

Trail 9: 1.2 mile hike that takes you through the Peden Farmstead.
Briddle Trail: 1.6 miles of new trail has been added to the park. This trail will remain open for hiking this year during the restoration of the Saddle Barn Pasture.
Meanwhile, Trails 5, 6, 7, and 10 remain closed until crews clear them, and trail structures are repaired. Guests should respect closure signs and should not use these trails until they are ready for safe use.
