Marshall County Deputies make two domestic-related arrests on Wednesday

Deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department responded to two separate domestic disturbance calls on Wednesday, March 25, resulting in the arrests of two women on misdemeanor and felony charges.

The first incident occurred at 8:15 a.m. when deputies responded to a domestic violence call for service. During the investigation, Deputy Ryan Hollopeter discovered that 34-year-old Rikay Salmons was violating an active no-contact order issued by Marshall County Superior Court II. Salmons was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a Class A misdemeanor charge of invasion of privacy. Her cash bond was set at $500.

Later that evening, at approximately 10:08 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 14,000 block of 3rd Road following reports of a physical domestic disturbance between a daughter and her parents. According to Deputy Evan Ash, the investigation determined that 23-year-old Abigail A. Stansbury had battered her mother during the altercation, resulting in injuries.

Stansbury was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail. She faces a Level 6 felony charge of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old. She was issued a court date and is being held on a $1,505 bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
