For Elaney Workman, baking has always been a love and a way to “escape life for a little bit.”
“After my first child was born, I really lost myself to motherhood and all the things that come with it. Once my second child was born, I was feeling myself being lost again. I didn’t want to lose myself anymore, so I turned back to baking,” Workman told The Putnam County Post.
And, through baking, Workman not only found herself, but a group of individuals who not only loved her cooking, but suggested the notion that maybe she open a bakery.
“I started baking for family and friends who have pushed me to do a bakery, something I never imagined myself having the confidence to do. With the support of my loved ones, I finally found the confidence to push myself to make that jump. It’s super exciting to finally see this happening,” said Workman.
Enter the idea of Two by Two Bakery, which features a focus on sourdough.

According to Workman, her cookies, muffins and breads will all have some form of sourdough in them.
“Sourdough in sweets? It really adds a whole new depth to the flavors,” she said.
The bakery is currently run out of her house so that she can keep family time the most important thing. As a result, weekly pickups are Tuesday and Thursday and she has more flexibility to finish custom orders, Workman acknowledged.
“People can be involved just by supporting me whether that’s just sharing my posts with friends/family, purchasing something from me or even just telling others about my bakery. It all helps me in the end! I also love challenging myself so if someone wants me to try and bake something for them I’m all for it. I love the simplicity of it all. Being able to just relax and focus on something with a tasty end goal. I love working with my hands and tweaking recipes until it’s just right and I’m happy with the end result. They can order either through my Facebook page, Two By Two Bakery, or each Friday I drop the following weeks menu on HotPlate,” Workman said.
