A lost child was reported in Wabash County Wednesday leading to a three hour search with a happy ending.
About 11:20 a.m., members of the Indiana State Police Peru Post, Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Post, Wabash County Sheriff's Office, Wabash City Police Department, Lafountain Town Marshal, Wabash City Fire Department, Wabash City EMS, Wabash County EMA, multiple Volunteer Fire Departments, Indiana Conservation, Duke Energy, Grant County Sheriff's Office, Wabash County REMC, and several community members responded to the area of CR 1300 N and CR 300 W., North Manchester, for a report of a missing child.
After approximately a three-hour search using an Indiana State Police Helicopter, several K9 units, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), and several ground units, the child was safely located in a nearby cornfield. The child was treated at the scene and released to the family.
The Indiana State Police and Wabash County Sheriff's Office would like to thank everyone who provided resources and assistance locating the child.
