The Fiscal Year 2026 Budget has been officially approved for operation of the Lawrence Public Library District.
The action was taken Tuesday evening by the library board of trustees after a required public hearing. Afterward, they approved an ordinance adopting the spending plan and enacting an appropriation ordinance which covers the spending allowed by the district. It will now be formally filed with county officials and published for public viewing.
The trustees also authorized Head Librarian and Library Director Diane Brumley to proceed with some library building exterior maintenance in preparation for the coming winter months. No firm costs were given. The work is anticipated to begin in October.
