Knox man arrested for felony OWI after blowing nearly three times the legal limit

A 26-year-old Knox man is facing a felony drunk driving charge after police say he was caught driving without a license and registered a blood alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit on Sunday night.

According to a news release from Deputy Matt Geiger of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, the incident began around 10:13 p.m. on April 26. Marshall County deputies and Plymouth Police officers received a report of a potentially impaired driver traveling on State Road 17 who had just turned onto Glenn Overmyer Drive.

Law enforcement units quickly located the suspect vehicle on Glenn Overmyer, just west of Nutmeg Road. Officers identified the driver as Victor Martinez, 26, of Knox.

During the traffic stop, officers determined that Martinez had been drinking and did not possess a valid driver's license. A certified blood test was administered, revealing that Martinez had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .22 percent.

Martinez was taken into custody by Marshall County police and transported to the Marshall County Jail. He was booked on charges of felony operating a vehicle while intoxicated—a charge elevated due to a prior conviction—and operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license.

Martinez was issued an upcoming court date and is currently being held on a $1,500 cash bond.
