Lawrence County Clerk Will Gibson is reminding all local candidates that petitions for Democratic and Republican offices in the next election in 2026 must be filed during the designated filing period which began Monday, October 27th and ends next Monday, November 3rd.
Local petitions can be submitted at the Lawrence County Clerk's Office located in the Lawrence County Courthouse in Lawrenceville during regular business hours through the Monday filing date. Any petitions received after that date will not be accepted.
Offices up for election include county clerk, county treasurer, county sheriff and a few county board seats along with precinct committeemen for both parties. Anyone wanting information can contact the clerk's office at (618) 943-2346 extension 4.
