With a full slate of live music, food and yard sales, Freeport Settlers Day offers a family-friendly day of fun Saturday in northern Shelby County.
Originally platted in 1836, Bailey’s mills brought settlers to the Freeport area for bread-stuffs and other trading items.
Nearly 200 years later, the small town celebrates its history with the eighth annual Freeport Settlers Day with biscuits and gravy and yard sales Saturday at 10 a.m. and live music well into the night.
The celebration is located along N. 300 East, just a few miles south of U.S. 52 west of Morristown.
Musical entertainment starts at 1:30 p.m. at a stage set up near 9032 E. 300 North, the home of event organizer Claudia Heck, and closes out with Dawg Daze taking the stage at 8:15 p.m.
“This is really about the community coming together,” said Heck. “It’s fun and relaxing for people … it’s enjoyment. Everybody can come enjoy themselves and enjoy the music.”
Other featured musicians include Trent Moss Band, Higher Standards, Mae and the Woozy Brothers, Breanna Faith, and Boat Ramp Bubba.
