Authorities in neighboring Crawford County are continuing to investigate skeletal remains discovered in a building in the city of Palestine last weekend.
Palestine Police report that they, along with the Crawford County Sheriff's Department, the Crawford County Coroners office and the Illinois State Police Forensic Services Unit were summoned to the Palestine Home and Hardware Company building where the skeleton was found in a closet. It was located in what used a former doctors office and could possibly be an anatomical skeleton model.
To make sure, the bones were processed, photographed and then bagged up for delivery to a forensic anthropologist for examination and a determination as to the nature of the case and a course of action in the future.
