Members of the Marshall County Drainage Board awarded Beaver Excavating two projects during the meeting on Monday morning.
The first project starts at the confluence of the East Bunch Ditch and continues upstream for 5,500 feet to the south side of U.S. 6, where it terminates on the West Bunch Ditch in German Township. The project is to clean the ditch to the original bottom by debrushing and removing trees. The overhanging trees will be cut back, dead trees will be removed, and trees near the top of the bank that have the potential to fall will be removed.
The contractors bidding on the project were: Langfeldt Excavating at $12,100; Allsop Construction at $9,750; and Beaver Excavating at $6,300.

The second project on the John Mattern Ditch in German Township starts 100 feet downstream from Gumwood Road and then 12,800 feet to the west side of Elm Road.
This project also cleans the ditch down to its original bottom and clears brush and growth from both sides, including removing trees.
The same three contractors submitted bids for the project, with Allsop Construction offering the highest at $19,770; Langfeldt was the next lowest at $16,512, and Bever Excavating was the lowest bidder at $13,200.

Both projects are to be completed by April 24, 2026.
