Hoosier Tire was granted a variance by the Marshall County Drainage Board that will allow them to construct an addition onto the existing building and construct a gravel driveway.
Scott Johnson, representing Hoosier Racing Tire Corp., 2307 PIDCO Drive in Plymouth, told the county drainage board they are purchasing a bandsaw for cutting tires as part of the testing procedures and then would like to have it near the Research and Development (R&D) offices on the backside of the facility.
The structure and gravel driveway would be within the county’s 75-foot maintenance easement of the PIDCO Ditch. Johnson said in the current location the addition would be 58 feet from the top of the ditch, thus the need for the variance. He said they may be able to move the addition slightly to the north and may be able to get it totally out of the maintenance easement, but the driveway would still be in the easement.
The county drainage board said they could work with the 58 feet but if during a maintenance project on the ditch, damage was done to the building or property they would not be responsible for repairs.
The board unanimously approved the variance as presented and asked Johnson to work with County Surveyor Craig Cultice on the final location of the building addition.
