This week, the Marshall County Commissioners handled various items, including approving agreements with The Record Xchange and Cloud Content services for Superior Court III Judge Matt Sarber.
The judge explained the Cloud agreement as a backup with access to records, recordings, and videos captured in the courtroom. He said the backup will be an off-site location that is cloud-based and will allow the judge and appropriate staff to be able to access it remotely instead of exclusively in the courtroom and offices as it currently is.
The judge said the records request is a transparency module that will allow those who are parties in a case, litigants, or interested parties to access past hearings, an audio recording, or transcripts of court hearings through a portal. Judge Sarber said hearings are a part of the public record, and this agreement allows the public to access cases they have an interest. He noted there are some limitations regarding minors or sealed cases. The judge said this tool is helpful to attorneys.
The commissioners approved both agreements for Judge Sarber.
Brain Carver, Executive Director of the Culver Youth Club, told the commissioners their enrollment has increased to 127 with an average daily attendance of 80 kids. He explained many of the programs the club offers at an affordable price. He asked the county to continue its donation of $6,000 to assist the Culver Kids Club. Carver was told he needed to send a letter requesting that the budgeted funds be disbursed to them. Once received, the auditor will complete the paperwork and put the request in for payment.
Marshall County Recorder Janet Howard told the commissioners that Fiddler is increasing its subscription price for Lorado. She wanted permission to pass on that price increase to the 14 customers, primarily title companies, who use the service. The commissioners approved a 15% increase.
The Marshall County Commissioners also appointed Kelsey Glingle to the Bremen Library Board. She will replace Kim Myers, who didn’t want to be reappointed. Glingle’s position is for 4 years and begins on July 9th.
The Commissioners also appointed Tim Starr as their appointee to the Marshall County Public Defender Board for a 3-year term effective on May 19th.
