This week the Marshall County Commissioners awarded the bid for this season’s Community Crossings 17 projects.
This year the state increased the maximum Community Crossing Grant funds from $1 million to $1.5 million. In April Marshall County was awarded the full $1.5 million grant in the state’s matching grant program. Due to the population in Marshall County, the local match is 25%.
Three companies submitted bids for this year’s work. E&B Paving submitted a bid of $2,138,274; Milestone Contractors tendered a bid of $1,901,806.31; and Phend and Brown presented a bid of $2,199,693.70.
Jason Peters, County Highway Superintendent reviewed the bids and made his recommendation to the commissioners on Monday to approve the lowest bid submitted by Milestone Contractors for $1,901,806.31. The commissioners approved that bid.
This round of Community Crossing projects will improve close to 12 miles of roadways including the roads around Lawrence Lake, the Golfview Estates subdivision, the Deer Trail subdivision, a couple of roads in Tyner, Elm Road in German Township, Easy Street, and 9C Road from Sycamore to Union Road.
