The issues at the Red Rock Inn on North Michigan Street were quickly discussed during Monday’s Board of Public Works & Safety meeting by Building Commission Dennis Manuwal.
He informed members that the entire second story of the northern building has been vacated following the issuance of an unsafe order by the city.
The building commissioner has received a copy of the structural analysis from the engineer and is now waiting for the work to begin. Manuwal said he reached out to Neal Patel, the owner, and informed him that his contractor needs to contact the building inspector and be registered with the city's building department.
Because the Red Rock Inn isn’t being used as a motel but as long-term residential living, the use must be changed with the state, and Mr. Patel hasn’t made that change yet.
The Plymouth Building Commissioner publicly declared that he has not issued a demolition order for the Red Rock Inn building or that he is evicting anyone on the first floor.
