Officers with the Plymouth Police Department arrested three individuals over the weekend for driving without ever obtaining a driver’s license.
On Saturday, July 26th at 10:57 a.m., a vehicle being driven by 53-year-old Sandro Lazaro Arroyo of Fort Wayne was stopped at the intersection of Pilgrim Lane and Oak Drive by Officer Krynock for a traffic infraction. Arroyo was found to have never received a driver's license and was lodged in the Marshall County Jail on a $100 cash bond. He was issued a court date of August 26.
43-year-old Ismael Fernando Rodriguez Mejia of Plymouth was stopped by Officer Witkowski on Sunday, July 27, at 12:38 a.m. on West Jefferson Street.
The traffic stop was on a Nissan Rogue traveling west on West Jefferson, which failed to maintain the lane. Rodriguez Mejia was found to be operating the vehicle without ever obtaining a valid driver's license. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked in, issued a court date, and given a cash bond.
On Sunday morning, July 27th, at about 1:20, Plymouth Police Corporal Schieber conducted a traffic stop on Michigan Street near Elliott Avenue for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 54-year-old Jose R. Calix-Berrios of Plymouth. Calix-Berrios was found to have never been issued a driver's license and had a prior conviction. He was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
