Bunge ribbon cutting, tours celebrate opening of food-grade soy protein concentrate facility

Bunge's growth in Morristown can now be measured as the single largest investment in Shelby County.

The newly commissioned $575 million food-grade soy protein concentrate facility under construction since first quarter 2023 is now expected to process 4.5 million bushels of soybeans each year.

Brian Douville says the facility will bring a product meant to revolutionize Bunge's footprint in the industry.

Bunge CEO Greg Heckman says the facility means 70 new full-time jobs and an investment in Bunge Morristown that provides a plant that is second-to-none in the U.S. and Europe. It's the first such plant built in the country in over 40 years.

Shelby County Executive Director Brian Asher notes the impact to Morristown, Shelby County and the surrounding area.

The new facility is expected to meet rising customer demand for key ingredients in the production of plant-based foods, processed meat, pet food, and feed products.
