Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Superior Construction Co, Inc will reduce State Road 933/Lincoln Way to one lane in each direction at the State Road 23/Eddy St bridge on or after Monday, March 13.
Traffic will utilize the inside lanes of State Road 933 in each direction, with the outside lanes closed to perform rehabilitation work on the State Road 23 bridge above.
The current closures in place in this location will remain during the first phase of work. State Road 23 is reduced to one lane in each direction, with the southbound side converted to two-way traffic. The ramps at the State Road 23 and State Road 933 interchange are closed, aside from southbound State Road 23 to northbound State Road 933. The ramp from northbound State Road 23 to Mishawaka Ave is also closed.
When work on the northbound State Road 23 bridge is complete, work will switch to the southbound side for phase two. This will result in changes to the ramps that are open and closed, which will be announced at a later date.
It was determined that additional repairs to the bridge were necessary during a bridge deck overlay project in 2022. Due to the expected scope of the repairs, INDOT announced in October 2022 that there would be extended closures and that work would continue through the 2023 construction season.
INDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time when driving through this area and follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
