A two-vehicle accident in Bremen last Wednesday led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man after investigators discovered he was driving without a valid license and was in possession of marijuana.
On Wednesday, August 5th, at approximately 2:37 p.m., Marshall County Central Dispatch received a report of a two-vehicle accident with possible injury at the intersection of U.S. 6 and Dogwood Road in Bremen. Bremen Fire/EMS, Marshall County Sheriff's Officers, and Bremen Police all responded to the scene.
During the crash investigation, officers discovered that the operator of one of the vehicles involved did not have a valid driver's license and was in possession of marijuana. Efren Ramirez, 19, was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail.
Ramirez was charged with operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license and possession of marijuana. He was held on a $250 bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
