The Marshall County Historical Society is sponsoring a Brown Bag Lunch and Lecture event on Friday, June 14th, from Noon to 1:00 p.m.
Historic Bremen president, Derk Jensen, will present “The History of Bremen.” The program will be held in the Community Room of the museum at 123 North Michigan Street in Plymouth.
Bremen has a fascinating history beginning with the early settlers of German Township, their origins, and the reasons they emigrated here. These pioneers, the sacrifices they made and the community they founded created the beginnings of the thriving Bremen of today.
Jensen will touch on many of the people and events since, whose lives have touched the Bremen community in so many ways. This will be a fascinating snapshot into one of Marshall County’s beautiful towns, told by its leading historian!
Derek Jensen has been researching buildings, businesses, events, and families in Bremen and elsewhere since 2014 and has been president of Historic Bremen since 2018. His work in documenting the town has led to a digital collection of 25,000 photos, news clippings, maps, and family trees, all available on Historic Bremen's Flickr account. His background is in corporate training and technical writing, and he worked for 20 years in the IT consulting field. He was born and raised in Bremen and has a BA in English from Purdue University. Derek currently serves on the board of four non-profit organizations-- Historic Bremen, Bremen Arts Collective, Wild Rose Moon, and Marshall County Historical Society. Learn with us as Jensen tells the story of Bremen. Pack a lunch and join the fun at the Marshall County Museum!
