The 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place in front of a near sold-out crowd Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
That prompted Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials to lift the blackout, meaning the Indianapolis 500 will air live on FOX in central Indiana, with expanded coverage beginning at 10 a.m. The green flag is expected to fly at 12:45 p.m.
All reserved seats have been purchased, including in the grandstands and suites. Only race day general admission tickets for the IMS infield are available.
“As promised, the very best fans in sports have delivered in fitting fashion for the stars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, and every last reserved seat ticket has been sold,” said INDYCAR and IMS president J. Douglas Boles. “Approximately 350,000 people will experience the ultimate spectacle that is the Indy 500 in person as everyone turns their focus to the Racing Capital of the World on Sunday.”
Those planning to attend the race are encouraged to “Plan Ahead” through IMS.com/PlanAhead, an interactive web page that serves as a home base for fans headed to the track.
