On Sept. 7-9, over 100 men's and women's golfers, representing 19 teams and 12 colleges and universities, traveled to Plymouth to compete at Pretty Lake Golf Club for an All-Inclusive Intercollegiate Golf Tournament hosted by Pretty Lake Golf Club and Bethel University.
What made this event special was the people of the Pretty Lake and Plymouth community, who hosted teams for two nights in their homes, fed them meals, and cheered them on in the tournament. This gave each of the student athletes a unique tournament experience, while showcasing the hospitality and graciousness of the people of Plymouth.
Best of all, through volunteers, sponsors, and donors, as well as the competing teams, donated items and funds were raised to help support the Marshall County Neighborhood Center.
"We were thrilled to host this event in Plymouth and excited to have put on a great show for these student athletes," said Bethel University Director of Golf Chris Hess. The people of the Pretty Lake Golf Club and the Plymouth community have been amazing, and the opportunity for us to help out the Marshall County Neighborhood Center is exactly the platform that we want our gifts and talents to be used for," added Hess.
Along with an abundance of canned goods and boxed items brought by each of the twelve college teams, Marshall County Neighborhood Center will also receive a check for $6,000.00 to be used for our local communities.
As for the golf tournament itself, Bethel University won the women's tournament and Midway University won the men's tournament. Next year's event is slated to take place on Sept. 13-15, 2026, at Pretty Lake Golf Club.
