Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel recently released the August 2024 departmental and jail report.

The top ten reasons why individuals were booked into jail during August.

There were 192 people booked into the county jail in August. Argos Police made 6 arrests, Bourbon Police had 4 arrests, Bremen Police put 5 people in jail and Culver officers made 6 arrests. Officers with the Indiana State Police had 5 arrests in August while the DNR had 3, Community Corrections arrested 2 and Plymouth officers arrested 63. Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department arrested 98 last month.

The average daily population in the jail during August was 131. Six months ago in February the average daily population was 155 and one year ago in August 2023 it was 166.

August count day was September 4^th when there were 129 people in the jail, 102 males and 27 females. There were 3 inmates serving time for misdemeanor charges, 36 serving felony time, 71 were pre-trail, 16 awaiting arraignment and 3 were being held for another agency.

Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated 53 accidents in August with 41 being property damage and 12 involving personal injuries. County police handled 104 case reports last month, issued 169 citations and warnings and conducted 25 security checks.

The county’s Central Dispatch Center answered a total of 4,596 calls in August, 1,376 were 911 calls and were answered in 10 seconds or less. There were also 1,208 service calls for the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
