Acton Academy Sugar Creek launches Winter Programs for Young Innovators

Parke County families have an exciting opportunity this winter to engage their children in innovative and enriching programs at Acton Academy Sugar Creek. Known as a “one-room schoolhouse for the 21st century,” the academy combines Montessori principles, hands-on learning, and a mission to inspire young people to find their calling and make a difference in the world.

The winter session runs from January 7 through March 28 and offers a variety of programs tailored to different age groups. Among the highlights are:

Sparks Play (Ages 4–8): Held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., this program features art, music, physical development, and Montessori-based play, fostering creativity and community building.
Parent/Tot Wednesdays: From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., parents and toddlers can enjoy free play, song and dance, and sensory activities.
Wonder Wednesday Afterschool Program: Designed for older children, this program runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and focuses on tinkering, coding, robotics, Lego challenges, and chess. Students will also take apart broken electronics to explore how they work.
Homeschool Hangout: On the first Tuesday of each month, homeschool families can participate in art and craft projects, yoga, and free play from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Acton Academy Sugar Creek also offers Forest School and camps at Billie Creek Village, providing children with opportunities to learn and grow in outdoor settings.
