A Knox County man is in custody after a Monday accident.
The Knox County Sheriff's Department reports that just before 10 a.m. ET, they received a call regarding a single vehicle accident on South Decker Road near the Essex Road. Upon arrival, deputies found a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser on its side in a cornfield.
The driver, identified as 33-year-old Karl Horton of Bicknell was trapped inside and had to be extricated through the top. He was not injured but appeared impaired. Horton refused a chemical test at the scene and a search warrant was obtained for the test.
During the investigation, a clear plastic bag containing a white substance that tested positive for methamphetamine was discovered inside. Horton was initially taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes for medical clearance and was then transported to the Knox County Jail.
He was formally charged with Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) with Endangerment, OWI Refusal and Possession of Methamphetamine and was booked into the jail.
