2 Domestic Battery incidents reported in Marshall County over weekend

Local law enforcement responded to two separate domestic battery incidents over the weekend, resulting in three arrests across Marshall County.

On Friday, August 1st, at approximately 1:07 p.m., Marshall County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the 20,000 block of 14B Road in Culver following a report of a possible domestic situation. Upon arrival, deputies determined that a physical altercation had taken place between Efrain Duran Sanchez, 45, and Adelsy Figueroa Hernandez, 33, both residents of the address. Both individuals showed visible signs of a physical fight and were taken into custody.

Children were present at the time of the incident. Both Sanchez and Hernandez were transported to Plymouth Hospital to be evaluated and were each cleared for incarceration. They were charged with domestic battery as a Level 6 felony due to the presence of children under the age of 16 and were booked into the Marshall County Jail. Both were assigned a court date and given a cash bond of $1,500 each. The children were placed in the care of a friend for the time being.

The following evening, on Sunday, August 2nd, at 7:22 p.m., Plymouth Police Department officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Pearl Street for a reported domestic battery. Upon arrival, officers learned that a physical altercation had occurred between Rogelio Miranda, 42, and his stepson. During the investigation, the stepson was found to have an injury to his head and was examined by medics on the scene. Miranda was placed under arrest, transported to the Marshall County Jail, and booked on a felony domestic battery charge. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
