The chemical spill at Zentis North America last Thursday morning, August 14, occurred in the logistics yard of its Plymouth facility.
Zentis told WTCA the incident was swiftly contained within the yard, and one employee received treatment for a potential injury. The chemicals involved are used in the cleaning and sterilization of stainless-steel food-grade containers at the plant.
“We are deeply grateful for the prompt and coordinated response from our internal team and local emergency services,” said a Zentis spokesperson. “The Plymouth Police Department, Fire Department, Regional Hazmat Team, and Indiana Department of Environmental Management played a critical role in ensuring the situation was managed quickly and safely.”
Zentis North America said it remains committed to the safety and well-being of its employees, the surrounding community, and the integrity of its operations. The company continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary.
